What Ingredients Should You Avoid in Deodorant? What to avoid in deodorants

Our exposure to toxic chemicals and toxins is increasing in today’s society. They are in soaps, beauty and shampoo products, deodorants and other personal care items. A few exceptions include AKT London’s natural deodorant.

Deodorants can be harmful to your body, even though they are considered a great product for personal hygiene. They can cause serious allergic reactions and toxic chemicals to be released into your body.

This post will discuss six ingredients that you should not use in your deodorant.

Parabens

Parabens can be found in many beauty products, such as shampoos, toothpastes, and deodorants. These synthetic compounds help to control fungus and bacteria in beauty products.

Parabens cause a hormonal imbalance in the body when they are absorbed through the skin. This increases the risk of cancer. They mimic estrogen in the body, which increases the risk of breast cancer for women and breast and prostate cancer for men. Endocrine system is also affected by hormonal imbalance.

Parabens were found in breast cancer tissue. They have not yet been directly linked to cancer or other illnesses. Many people are advised to use paraben free cosmetics, particularly deodorants, in order to be safe.

Deodorants containing natural ingredients, such as clove oil, should be used instead. Clove oil is antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal, which makes it a safer option to parabens.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene Glycol, also known as propylene glycol, is widely used in the food and beverage industry. It’s used as an ingredient and is sometimes used to deice aircraft in cold weather.

Propylene glycol, on the other hand, is used in the cosmetics industry to give deodorants an emulsified consistency, which makes it easier to apply them to the skin. In large quantities, propylene glycol can damage the heart, liver and central nervous system. Propylene Glycol is harmful to health when ingested in large amounts. Most deodorants contain up to 50%, which is a high dose.

Triclosan

Triclosan can be used to kill bacteria and preserve the ingredients in hand washes and deodorants. It is also used for a variety of cosmetic products. It can cause skin irritation or dermatitis if used in deodorants.

Triclosan is listed as a pesticide by the FDA. The American Food and Drug Administration banned its use in cosmetics after studies revealed that it inhibited the regulation of animal hormones.

Phthalates

Also, phthalates are a common ingredient in personal care products. These chemicals are used for dissolving other ingredients, and they are also used as fragrance products to make the fragrance last longer.

This versatile ingredient is extremely harmful to your body. This ingredient is linked to asthma, preterm deliveries in pregnant women, male genital congenital disability, and reproductive problems in adults.

Fragrance or Perfume

Fragrance and perfume formulas contain hundreds of different ingredients, some of which can be harmful to the body. These ingredients are considered confidential information and it is impossible to know all of them, or their impact on the health.

Some ingredients, such as synthetic musks and phthalates are obtained from petroleum. When applied often, these ingredients can cause irritation.

Alcohol

Many deodorants contain alcohol to dissolve the substances used in manufacturing. Alcohol also speeds up the drying process of the product after application.

Alcohol is also antibacterial, but causes irritation and skin dryness. You can choose deodorants that have less harmful properties like magnesium hydroxide or coconut oil.

The conclusion of the article is:

Always check the label before selecting a deodorant. Purchase an all-natural, eco-friendly deodorant.
